This is one of my family’s favorite meals. It is one of those super fast and simple meals but also delicious and satisfying.
There are two ingredients in this dish best purchased from an Asian market. You find beef for sukiyaki in the same section you’d find steak. It’s very thinly sliced beef specially cut for a sukiyaki dish. Mirin is a sweet rice wine used in Asian cooking. You can find this in any grocery store but Asian markets usually carry larger and cheaper bottles.

Beef Bowl Prep time: 10 minutes
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil 1 or 2 cloves of garlic, minced 2 or 3 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced one sweet yellow onion - cut in thin slices one package beef - sukiyaki style - between .5lb and 1lb ½ cup mirin ½ cup soy sauce 1 cup water cooked rice
Heat the oil in a wok or large saute pan over medium high heat. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the onions and cook for about 3 minutes until just starting to get soft. Add the beef and cook until beef is cooked and onions are translucent.
Add the mirin, soy sauce and water to the pan. Cook until liquid boils then turn down to simmer.
